Being a proud member of the local Lion’s Club and dedicated to helping his clients achieve peace of mind before, during, and after their legal matters; in the following video, attorney Edward S. Cooper ESQ, explains the concept of the grounds for divorce, and how it is interpreted in the state of New Jersey.
How do we proceed with a divorce? Well, the first step with a divorce is that we need to file a complaint which is a cause for action for divorce. We still have extreme cruelty and eighteen months of separation. But we do not need to allege that anymore. With the irreconcilable differences, we do not need to indicate any dirty laundry; we just indicate to the court that there is a breakdown of the marriage, it lasted for six or more months, and that gives us a cause of action for divorce.
